What is the right age for cosmetic surgery?It is not the question of too old, but whether one is healthy enough to have the surgery. We always individualize your care. Your desire to change your appearance is the biggest factor for when to choose plastic surgery. Younger aged people seem to have better results due to factors such as better skin resiliency and healing abilities, but those factors are very individual.

What is Weekend Recovery Microlipo®?Weekend Recovery Microlipo® is a specialized technique of liposculpture that Dr. Schafer created & has been performing for several years. He uses very small instruments for precise body sculpting and contouring. Smaller incisions result in faster healing time, less patient discomfort and almost invisible scars. It is performed under safe, local anesthesia. With little to no downtime, you can very quickly resume your normal activities.
What is a Weekend Recovery Lazer-Lift?Instead of a traditional face-lift that cuts, pulls and leaves you with a "wind-tunnel" effect, Dr. Schafer created his Weekend Recovery Lazer-Lift, which is much less invasive. This procedure combines liposuction and laser sculpting to redefine the neck and lower face through a minimal one-inch incision. It is performed under safe, local anesthesia. Recovery is swift and most patients who have the procedure performed on a Friday are back to work on Monday.
Rapid Recovery Method® - used with Weekend Recovery Microlipo® techniques
Dr. Schafer's exclusive RAPID RECOVERY METHOD® combined with his Weekend Recovery Microlipo® Liposuction techniques normally has patients back to work and back to their lives in three short days. The new medical regime begins one week preoperatively and continues for one week after a Liposculpture procedure. The RAPID RECOVERY METHOD® combined with Weekend Recovery Microlipo® uses traditional medical techniques with holistic approaches. The protocol includes vitamins, prescription medicines, external ultrasound vibration (to break up fat into sawdust size particles) and the tumescent Liposculpture technique. The RAPID RECOVERY METHOD® inhibits bleeding and significantly decreases the chances of bruising.

Where will my surgery be performed?Our surgical procedures are performed in our I.M.Q. certified state-of-the-art surgical suite. Most procedures are done under safe local anesthesia and intravenous sedation.
How should I prepare for cosmetic surgery?About 2 weeks prior to surgery, we recommend you discontinue aspirin and aspirin containing products such as Advil. Certain vitamins and herbal supplements such as Vitamin E & St. John's Wort should also be discontinued prior to surgery. We recommend smoking cessation and avoidance of all nicotine containing products for at least one month prior and following surgery to avoid delayed wound healing. You will need someone to drive you to and from the surgery center and stay with you for 24-48 hours and after surgery.
How much pain will I have after surgery?Typically, this aspect of cosmetic surgery is greatly overestimated. Because most patients are facing the unknown, it's easy to have exaggerated fears about pain and complications. In most cases, patients tell us after surgery that the pain was much less than what they had expected. In many cases, there's no pain at all.
How much bruising and swelling will I have after surgery?Dr. Schafer developed a "Rapid Recovery Method" he combines with his surgical procedures. A combination of traditional medical techniques and holistic approaches expedite the healing and recovery. The protocol uses vitamins, prescription medicines and external ultrasound vibration to get patients back to their lives and work as soon as possible.
How long will I need to recover?This will depend upon the surgery. When combined with Dr. Schafer's "Rapid Recovery Method", in the case of surgeries like our Micro-Lipo, Lazer-Lift and Male Breast Reduction, it takes only a few days or less to be presentable. Nose surgeries, Breast Augmentation, and Eyelid Surgeries require a week or longer recovery period. We will discuss with you in detail specific work and exercise restrictions.
Risks and Complications?Cosmetic surgery is like all surgery in that there are risks attached. You will be informed of these prior to your operation. Although cosmetic surgeons routinely perform thousands of procedures every year, an occasional patient may have an adverse reaction to anesthesia or experience a post-op complication--infection, blood clots, or poor healing. Both smoking and taking aspirin are unadvisable before and after surgery. Remember that while you do, indeed, have a competent, skilled surgeon in Dr. Schafer, there is no one who can offer risk-free surgery or guarantee perfect results. Cosmetic surgery reshapes tissue, which makes no result totally predictable. One of the best things you can do is follow your doctor's instructions for post-op care, which will help to ensure the very best outcome possible.
