To make sure we do everything possible to maintain patient safety the following elements are utilized. We ask our patients to describe in detail any medical problems, medications they take, or previous surgeries. We send anyone with a questionable or known medical problem to their primary care physician or any necessary specialist prior to performing any procedures. We uphold the most strict hiring and educational criteria in our nursing staff to make certain patients are well cared for before, during and after all procedures. We perform procedures in our state-of-the-art surgery center, which is fully certified by IMQ (Institute for Medical Quality) to assure the highest standards in our patient care, medications, sterilization, lighting and equipment. We maintain a binding transfer agreement with Sharp Coronado Hospital, should there be a need for hospital care following a procedure. We have the most modern monitoring and life-saving equipment on site. We provide detailed post-operative teaching to our patients and their families, so they know what to expect and any problem signs following procedures. We have 24 hour physician coverage for questions and emergencies following any cosmetic procedure. By conforming to the above, we provide you with the safest possible surgical experience. Researchers at Cytori Therapeutics, Inc., a biomedical company in San Diego, CA, would like to use your donated fat tissue (removed during any liposuction procedures) to research and develop improved ways of extracting cells to increase the potential for medical uses. Typically, the adipose (fat) tissue that is removed during liposuction is thrown away. Recent scientific discoveries have identified discarded fat as an excellent source of cells that could be used in healing damaged tissue. It's your option. You may choose to donate your tissue or have it thrown away. The fat tissue waste will be sent directly to the Cytori laboratory. This research is not related in any way to embryonic or fetal stem cell research. You will remain anonymous. There is no additional cost to you. You will not be paid or reimbursed for donated fat.
